The entire world watched in 2005 as Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast and forced the evacuation and displacement of 1.5 million Americans. Like countless others, CSC team members raced to the front lines of this tragedy and lent their expertise to the extensive relief efforts.
Houston, Texas received a large number of Katrina evacuees, many of whom were housed at Houston’s Reliant Dome until more permanent conditions could be identified. During this time, CSC’s Houston branch provided 24 hour coverage at the Dome, using 175 employees per 12 hour shift. At its height of occupancy, Reliant Park was home to more than 27,000 evacuees.
Working alongside law enforcement personnel, CSC helped to secure Reliant Park and provide a safe and orderly environment for all of the evacuees. CSC’s peer group approach to security and crowd management proved naturally conducive to the challenges posed during this time. Its family of employees put forth their very best efforts in providing a relief to these Americans in their time of tragedy.
“We don’t view all efforts in the context of profit margins. Sometimes we are the only company that can do what is needed, and we do not hesitate to serve.”
